GoTreads Vehicle Recovery Device

I often find myself venturing off the pavement in search of boondocking. My RV is definitely not an all-terrain vehicle, and after experiencing a pretty good “stuck” on a beach in Baja, I started looking at vehicle recovery devices.

These are essentially high-strength plastic traction boards designed to help get your vehicle out of soft sand or mud. Unfortunately, most are pretty large, and would be difficult to stow, especially in a small RV. Then, at the Xscapers Annual Bash in 2020, I saw a set of GoTreads. Fellow Escapees Eric and Brittany Highland #124763 (hourlesslife.com) had their overlander vehicle on display and I was intrigued by their bright orange GoTread recovery ramps. They fold up into a small, easy-to-store package and were perfect for my RV.

Mine fit nicely below my driver’s seat and provide peace of mind when I’m venturing down a dirt road. While they won’t get you out of every situation, they can make the difference when you just need some extra traction.
